Kurti Size Guide: How to Measure Yourself and Pick the Right Fit

Buying a kurti online is easy when you know your measurements. It takes five minutes with a measuring tape, and it saves you from a kurti that is tight at the bust or loose at the shoulders.

How to measure

  • Bust: Wear a well-fitting bra. Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape straight across your back.
  • Waist: Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
  • Hips: Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
  • Shoulder: Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the other across your back.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and note each number in inches.

Saanwari kurti size chart (inches)

Size Bust Waist Hip
S 36 32 38
M 38 34 40
L 40 36 42
XL 42 38 44
XXL 44 40 46

This is the same chart shown on every kurti page. Straight, A-line and Anarkali cuts can feel different, so read the fit notes in each product description too.

Choosing between two sizes

  • Go by your bust for straight and fitted kurtis — that is where a kurti most often feels tight. Pick a size whose bust is 1–2 inches more than your body measurement for comfortable movement.
  • Go by your hips for straight kurtas worn with pants, so the side slits sit flat.
  • Anarkali and flared kurtis are flowy below the bust, so you can usually pick your regular size.
  • If you like a relaxed fit for daily wear, choose the bigger size.

Fabric matters too

Cotton kurtis may shrink slightly after the first wash, so wash them cold and dry them in shade. Rayon drapes softly and feels a little looser. Embroidered yokes have no stretch, so be accurate at the bust.
